철학자 Plato 덕분에 전망좋은 자리에 앉아서 고대 올림픽 경기를 보는 잭이 참 부럽습니다.

특별석에, 옆에는 judges들이 앉아있다고 해요.

고대 올림픽의 꽃, chariot race 전차경기는 어렸을 때 봤던  로마시대 영화에서 나왔던 기억이 나요. 말이 끄는 전차를 타고 하는 경기요. 요즘으로 말하면 카레이싱 정도 되지 않을까 싶어요.

in horror, in awe 위치가 평소에 보던 문장과 달라요. 함께 눈여겨 봅시다. 

 

Plato가 “A girl will get in terrible trouble if she goes to the games.”이라고 했었는데 고대 올림픽 경기장에서 애니를 보았으니 범생이 잭이 얼마나 놀랐을까요.

그 시대 맡은 바 임무를 수행해야 했던 경비병들도 고생했겠어요.

All heads라 표현한 게 재미있어요. 

말이 나와서인지 10권 카우보이편 Ghost Town at Sundown에 나왔던 단어들과 많이 겹쳐요. 

 

말의 정체가 궁금해집니다.

[매직문장] 16권-9 Fly Away Home

• Dust and sand got in his eyes.

*All 단어 하나로 강조를 해줍니다.

*get in one’s eyes 모래가 눈에 들어갈 때

문법상 me가 아닌 my를 써야 맞는데 원어민들은 me로 쓰는 걸 선호한대요. 

 

-다용도로 사용되는 기본동사 get입니다.

get은 변화를 나타내요. 눈에 아무것도 없었는데 모래가 들어가니 변화가 생겼어요.

▶wish와 hope의 차이 살펴봅니다.

◈wish 주어+ 동사: ~할텐데, ~하면 좋을텐데, ~했을텐데

우리가 원하는 상황이지만 현재 상황과 반대되는 상황일때/ 아쉬움을 표현할 때

 

예문) I wish everyday was Sunday.

*wish를 쓴 이유

1) 매일매일은 일요일이 아니기 때문에

2) 일요일이 아니기에 아쉬움

 

I wish I could be a doctor. 

I wish you were here..

I wish I hadn't worked so hard. 

그렇게 일만하며 살지 않았더라면 좋았을텐데.
