The Indicator: GDP - 32.9%???!!!

indicator: 지표, 계기, 방향표시등

budge: 약간 움직이다 [움직이게 하다], 꼼짝하다/ 의견을 바꾸다

annualized: 연간으로 환산한

plummet: 급락하다, 격감하다, 곤두박질치다(plunge), (온도) 급강하하다

decline: (수, 가치, 품질 등의 지속적인) 감소[하락/ 축소]

extrapolate: (~을 기반으로) 추론[추정]하다

What we do instead is: ~대신, 우리가 하는 건

a third of the economy: 경제의 3분의 1

*** is a little more confusing than you might realize:

GDP stands for gross domestic product.

GDP는 국내총생산을 의미한다. 
It's basically a sum total of all of the goods and services that the U.S. economy produces. 

기본적으로 미국 경제가 생산하는 모든 상품과 서비스의 총합이다. 

GDP includes all of the goods and services that the country is producing and buying.

GDP는 나라에서 만들어내고 사는 모든 상품과 서비스를 포함한다. 

Is the US economy one-third smaller? 미국 경제가 1/3 작아졌나? 
It's often considered to be the measure of economic growth.

그것은 종종 경제 성장의 척도로 여겨진다. 
It never gets very high. 그것은 결코 매우 높아지지 않는다. 

So even when a lot of things change, the GDP needle just doesn't budge very much.

그래서 많은 것들이 바뀌어도 GDP 바늘은 정말 꿈쩍도 하지 않는다. 
They stay pretty low, and that's because the U.S. economy is enormous.

What actually happened is in the second quarter, we produced 9.5% less than we did in the first quarter. 실제로 일어난 것은 2분기에 1분기보다 9.5%나 적은 생산량을 냈다는 것이다. 
At least it didn't used to. 적어도 예전엔 그렇지 않았다. 

The GDP numbers came out today. 오늘 GDP 수치가 나왔다. 

I felt like I was punched in the gut. 나는 급소를 맞은 느낌이 든다. 
That's the second quarter - the U.S. economy grew at an annualized rate of negative 32.9%.

2분기 미국 경제는 마이너스 32.9%의 연평균 성장률을 보였다.

Let's say you do not extrapolate out for the whole year.  

당신이 일년 내네로 추정하지 않는다고 해보자. 

That number still makes April, May, and June the worst three months in the history of the U.S. economy. 이 숫자는 여전히 미국 경제 역사상 4월, 5월, 6월을 최악의 3개월로 만든다. 
This was the worst quarter probably in American history. 

이것은 아마도 미국 역사상 최악의 분기였을 것이다.
