I ditched plastic for a week. Here's what I learned

*go all in ~에 전념하다, 올인하다

You were going all in for the sake of this journalism experiment.

*a big lift 큰 짐, 어려운 일

It would feel like a big lift for someone trying to do this for the first time.

It was since this was all new to me, but it's not exactly a new concept.

My parents always reused, you know, containers and the butter jars and - upcycling glasses to put their plants in.

*it wasn't until ~이후에야 가능했다

it wasn't until I got older, and I got a full-time job and my income increased - that's when I realized that I had larger amounts of plastic waste that I was using.

Let's pivot now to talk about the health aspect of all of this.

Reusing single-use plastic containers is better for the environment but not necessarily for your health.

*downstream effect 후속효과

There can be a lot of downstream effects from that.

*if at all 조금이라도 ~한다면

+) Any advice at all would be tremendously helpful, and I’d appreciate it if you could help me!

*If it helps at all 조금이라도 도움된다면

I wonder if it helps at all - if it can reduce your exposure if you rinse off food that was packed in plastic.

It's really hard to be completely free of them.

Plastic containers contain chemicals that can actually mess with your hormones.

She recommends just swapping your plastic food containers for ones that are glass, metal or wood.

*ingest 삼키다, 먹다

Takeaway two is to think about ways to cut down on the plastic you ingest.

I feel like you - once you start to be aware of it, you look around and plastics are in everything.
