One reason school cyberattacks are on the rise? 

Cyber snow days are becoming increasingly common at schools.

That's when classes get canceled after a ransomware attack.

These attacks can compromise essential computer systems.

I monkeyed around with my dogs in the morning.

This was not a one-day event, that we had a real problem.

It can take up to three weeks for classes to get back to normal.

They have older systems, rely heavily on technology.

It's the kind of breach parents would want to know about.

Elder had to cancel school indefinitely.

A lot of times, cybersecurity is an afterthought.

He realized employees who had clicked on phishing emails a couple of weeks back had unwittingly given hackers entry to their payroll details.

The first thing we had to do is make employees whole.

We took forensic data captures of all their hard drives.

It was just a lot of man hours and a lot of effort and a lot of consulting time.

They were in the middle of getting quotes for cyber insurance when the attack happened.

Our costs went up exponentially after this - 300%.

They're beefing up security protocols.

I did get invited to a cybersecurity summit at the White House.
