Here's where we get to this moment we're having in tipping.
With inflation happening across the economy, businesses are dealing with rising costs.
There's a lot of pressure to keep prices low for frugal customers.

Tip is volatile that totally relies on the whims and moods of customers.
Tipping is presented as a choice, a thank-you for great service.

The rise in tipping has many customers fuming, but one worker who depends on tips says most customers misunderstand what they are — and shares what it feels like when people don't tip.
