폼나는 영어 구동사 get through, go through 완전 정복하기

 오늘은 원어민은 매일 사용하지만 우리는 잘 사용하지 못하는 필수 구동사인 be through, get through, go through를 배워봅니다. 이 구동사들은 원어민들과 대화시 거의 매일 듣게 되는 구동사들인데요. 실전에서 사용할 수 있는 다양한 예문으로 폼나는 영어, 아띠나선생님께 배워봅니다.

*Through ~를 통해, 관통하여
1-1. Be through 어떤 일을 다 끝낸, 완수한 (be done)
Are you through with the report? 보고서는 다 끝냈어요?
Are you through? Mr. Wizard? 다 끝냈나요? Mr. Wizard?
No. I’m not through with it yet. 아니요, 아직 다 끝내지 않았어요.
I’m about halfway through. 그건 절반 정도 끝냈어요. 
Halfway through 절반을 끝내다. = halfway done 

We’re about halfway through the project. 프로젝트는 절반 정도 진행되었어요.
We’re not through with the presentation yet. 프레젠테이션은 아직 끝나지 않았어요.

1-2. Be through 무엇을 다 사용한
Are you through with the computer? 컴퓨터는 다 사용 하셨어요?
Let me know when you’re through with the printer. 인쇄기를 다 사용하면 알려줘요.

2. Get through 어떤 일을 다 끝내다, 완수하다
We have a lot to get through. 처리해야 할/ 끝내야 될 일이 많다.
We have a lot to get through, so I’m just gonna jump right into our agenda. 

논의해야 할 것이 많기 때문에 바로 안건으로 들어가보겠습니다.

I have a lot of paperwork to get through. 저는 끝내야 될 서류작업이 많이 있습니다.
I couldn’t get through all of it. 다 끝내지 못했어요.
I don’t read every single piece of mail I get because I just couldn’t get through all of it.
나는 모든 메일을 다 읽을 수 없었기 때문에 받는 모든 메일을 읽지는 않습니다.

We got through a lot, so let’s pick up where we leave off next week. 

우리는 많은 일을 처리했으니까, 다음주에 중단한 부분에서부터 다시 시작 합시다. 
*Pick up 줍다, (중단한일을) 다시 시작하다, 계속하다
*Leave off 중단하다, 멈추다

3. Go through 계약, 법률 등이 승인되다. 통과되다 = approve
Your application has been approved. → Your application went through.

당신의 신청서가 승인 되었습니다.              → 당신의 신청서가 승인되었습니다.

 

I’m sorry. But your application declined. → I’m sorry. But your application didn’t go through.

죄송합니다만, 당신의 신청서는 승인되지 않았습니다.

I’d like to know why my order didn’t go through. 

제 주문이 왜 들어가지 않았는지 알고 싶습니다.

Medical product은 FDA 승인을 받아야 한다.
*Get an approval from the FDA. = Go through the FDA.
It needs to go through the FDA first. 먼저 FDA의 승인을 받아야 합니다.

I believe all devices have to go through the FDA much like a drug does.
