폼나는 영어 시간 관련 표현 5개 추후에, 당분간, 당장은 영어로 표현

숫자를 영어로 말하기 어려운 것처럼 시간을 영어로 표현하기가 은근 까다로워요. 거기다 딱 떨어지는 시간이 아닌 '추후에, 당분간, 당장은' 이런 표현을 영어로 하는 게 정말 어렵게 느껴집니다. 그런데 일상생활에서는 '추후에, 당분간, 당장은' 이런 말들을 많이 사용하죠. 배우고 바로 실전에서 쓸 수 있는 시간관련 영어표현입니다. 폼나는 영어, Athena 선생님의 차분한 목소리로 차근히 배워보아요.

1. A little before ~좀 전에

I got here a little before 2.

2시 좀 안 돼서 도착했어요.

It is a little before 5:30 in the morning.
새벽 5시 30분이 조금 전입니다.

3시 좀 안 돼서 도착할 것 같아요.
I think I’ll get there a little before 3.

회의는 오시기 좀 전에 시작했어요.
The meeting started a little before you came.

2시 좀 넘어서 도착했어요.
A little after / past; ~좀 넘어서
I got here a little after 2.
I got here a little past 2.

회의는 3시 좀 넘어서 끝났어요.
The meeting ended a little after 3.

2. 다음 주쯤 알려 드릴게요.
Sometime + 시간: ~쯤
I’ll let you know sometime next week.

제가 내일 오후쯤에 들려도 될까요?
Can I drop by your office sometime tomorrow afternoon?

제가 다음 주 초쯤에 들릴 수 있을까요?
Sometime early next week; 다음주 초쯤

Sometime around + 시간
다음주 쯤은 어떠세요?

우리는 실제로 어제 밤 8시쯤에 그것을 시작했습니다.

3. 당분간 모든 회의를 Zoom으로 할 거예요.

*회의를 하다 Do, have 보다는 do가 좀더 캐주얼하고 구어체적임

검토하다 review, go over (review 보다는 go over를 훨씬 많이 씀)

모든 결과는 추후에/ 나중에 살펴보겠습니다.

오늘은 여기까지만 하고 다음에 마무리하는 게 어때요?

회의는 다음에 하기로 했어요.
We decided to have the meeting at a later date.

5. Anytime soon 금방은/ 당장은/ 곧(부정문, 의문문에만 사용됨)

방금 나가셔서 금방은 돌아오시지 않을 거예요.

I don’t think he’ll be back anytime soon.
저는 그가 곧 돌아올 것이라고 생각하지 않습니다.

당장은 필요하지 않을 것 같아요.
I don’t think I’ll be needing it anytime soon.
