 NPR은 National Public Radio의 약자로 국립 공영 라디오 방송입니다. 공영방송이라 신뢰할 수 있는 미국의 대표적인 방송이라 할 수 있습니다. NPR의 모든 뉴스나 팟캐스트가 대본을 제공하고 있는 것이 아닙니다.  NPR 사이트에서 직접 확인하여 본인에게 맞는 뉴스나 팟캐스트를 선정해 공부하면 좋을 것 같습니다. 공영방송이기에 발음이나 억양 등 많은 부분을 신경씁니다. 또한 우수한 콘텐츠를 자랑합니다. 현재 미국 언론에서 주목하고, 이슈가 되는 정치,경제, 사회, 국제, 과학, 문화, 교육 전반에 걸친 내용과 소소한 일상의 이야기들에 이르기까지 다양한 주제를 다루고 있습니다. 원어민 진행자가 여러 전문 게스트들을 인터뷰하는 형식이라 지루하지 않게 영어 공부를 할 수 있습니다.

 

 델타변이로 인해 코로나바이러스가 또다른 국면을 맞이하게 되었습니다. 코비드 백신이 보급되었다 하더라도 수백만 명의 어린이들이 너무 어려서 COVID-19 백신을 맞을 수 없습니다. 미국의 경우, 특히 12세 이하의 어린이들이 백신을 맞지 못한 상태에서 학교가 전면 오픈한 가운데 부모님들의 걱정은 더해가고 있습니다. 백신 실험과 여러 연구로 최신 정보가 매일 나오고 있습니다. 델타변이로 부터 자녀를 안전하게 보호할 수 있는 방법과 온 가족이 가능한 안전하게 지내기 위해 할 수 있는 일들을 전문가와 함께 알아 봅니다.

NPR 팟캐스트 하나를 정하여 내용과 분량에 따라 2~3일간 나누어 하루 분량씩 공부합니다. 

정해진 팟캐스트를 시간이 될 때마다 수시로 들으며 리스닝 훈련을 합니다. 

주제에 따라 본인에게 편한 팟캐스트도 있고, 그렇지 않은 경우도 있습니다. 팟캐스트로 영어 공부하면서 정치, 경제, 사회, 국제, 문화, 교육, 역사등 다양한 주제를 접하게 되어 일반상식도 함께 향상시킬 수 있습니다.
