What Kamala Harris' economic agenda might look like

   저는 대통령의 뜻에 따라 직무를 수행하고 있습니다.

*by and large (완전히는 아니지만) 대체로, 전반적으로

*get head  around ~에 대해 이해하다, 적응하다

Now we all have to get our heads around this new candidate.

+) You could get your head around it. 

      너도 이해할 수 있을거야.

*be in favor of …에 찬성[지지]하다, …에 이익이 되게 하, …에 유리하다

*the people who have the most  부유층

*the people who work the most 근로자나 중산층

The rules have been written in the favor of the people who have the most and not in favor of the people who work the most, which is why I am proposing that we change the tax code.

+) I'm not in favor of the Defense of Marriage Act. 

+) I am in favor of your proposed changes. 

*repeal (법률을) 폐지하다

 the tax cuts should be repealed altogether.

 I will repeal that tax bill that benefits the top 1% and the biggest corporations of America.

*presumably [prɪ|│zuːməbli] 아마, 짐작건대

*on the other side of the ledger 반대 측면에서, 다른 한편으로는

Now, obviously, what a candidate will promise in a debate and what they can actually accomplish if they are elected president can look very different.

Senator Kamala Harris just so happened to sit on.

Now, prominent Democratic leaders, including Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden had come out in support of ratifying the USMCA.

And those votes happened so quickly that it was like a meeting adjourned. 

*put out a statement 성명을 발표하다

She put out a statement that said, by not addressing climate change, the USMCA fails to meet the crises of this moment.

*tariff [ˈtærɪf]  관세

 She did come out pretty strongly against the tariffs.


Last weekend we were all thrown for a loop when President Joe Biden dropped out of the presidential race and endorsed Kamala Harris for the nomination. Just like everyone else, we are trying to quickly wrap our heads around what it means now that Harris is almost certainly going to be the Democratic nominee for president.
